MCGOVERN PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSOCIATES TREATS U.S. OLYMPIC ATHLETE

February 11, 2008 – Rick Hawn, a 2004 Olympian, 4-time Senior National Champion and 2007 World Team Member in Judo, is currently a patient at MPTA – Beverly.
 
Hailing from Eugene, OR, Rick spent eight years at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs pursuing his Olympic dream. Rick missed out on the Sydney Games when the team was selected without Trials; however, he dominated his opponents in 2004 to qualify for his first Olympic Team in the Athens games. In 2005, Rick relocated to Wakefield, MA where he is currently training under his Athens teammate, two-time Olympic medallist Jimmy Pedro.  
 
Sensei Rick Hawn is also a Jr. & Sr. Intermediate Program Instructor with Pedro. While giving private lessons at the training center to a former McGovern Physical Therapy Associates patient, Rick complained about his neck and upper back. He had tightness, pain and lack of full movement. Blaming it on general wear and tear of years of Judo, Rick was not seeking treatment anywhere. However, the patient immediately recommended that Rick see Kevin McGovern to see if he could help.  
 
Since beginning treatment in early December, Rick has seen great improvements. “I can move my neck and upper back much more. It really allows me to train better.” Hawn said, “We had trainers at the Olympic training center in Colorado, but I haven’t been able to work with someone at that level since meeting Kevin. I would recommend McGovern to anyone.”
